Description

The “arepa” is a pre-Columbian dish from the area that is now Colombia and

Venezuela. Instruments used to make flour for the arepas and the clay slabs on which they were cooked, were often found at archaeological sites in the area.Arepa is the fundamental base of the Venezuelan diet. It is hard to determine the origin of the Arepa. It comes from the basic diet of the indigenous, that consisted in “yucca”, hunted elements such as fish, collected vegetables and corn. It can be breakfast, lunch or dinner, and is the favorite of Venezuelans. It is never missing at the end of a wedding or graduation.
